Instagram launches Instagram for Business with Brand New Analytics.

- Boost options & Insights now available for individual Instagram content.
- Instagram Insights now available for access via mobile phone only.
- New Contact Button – Instagram have installed an easy to use contact button for fans and followers who wish to email you.
- Switch over to Instagram Business Profile today via mobile phone. Must be logged into a Facebook account with access to brand page linked to your Instagram Account.
- Boosting existing content that’s actually live on your Instagram account – previously it was only possible by separate hidden or “dark” posts.
- Customer Service/Enquiries – new Contact Button makes it a LOT easier for fans and followers to get in touch.
- 3rd party tools no longer required for basic metrics such as Reach, Impressions, Follower growth, Gender Breakdown and Age Range.
- Instagram Analytics launch – while this this does feel like a band-aid placeholder to keep agencies & their clients placated, it no doubt means that the full-blown desktop version of Instagram Analytics that the platform has promised is not far away.
- Instagram for Business only available on mobile for now – not yet available on desktop.
- Rudimentary data, which will still need to be supported by other tools to measure and demonstrate ROI through Instagram.
- Available for most accounts, but not all. I’ve heard from a few of my Australian colleagues that it’s not available on all accounts yet.
- Update your smartphone – Ensure your Apple iPhone is updated to the latest version of Instagram.
- Instagram Advertising ensure you speak with your media agency about advertising options as they may have access to tools that aren’t yet accessible to the broader market.

Travel blog & photography – Get Lost & Go Hiking in California State Parks.

6 weeks ago I touched down in the USA for 90 days and man… has that time just flown!
Texas for podcasts and music photography at SXSW, Georgia for The Masters and the past 3 weeks checking out what life’s all about in Los Angeles, California.
The 23-year-old me would have partied all night and slept all day once I hit LA (don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of that and meeting new people mixed in on weeknights/weekends), but apart from creating content and networking, my focus has been soaking up all that SoCal mountain parks have on offer… getting in as many of the amazing hikes as I can that the greater city of Los Angeles has on offer… Brand Park and Wildwood Canyon in Burbank, the surprisingly quiet, but rather beautiful Lake Hollywood, Runyon Canyon (currently closed for 4 months for pipe-works)… and this very sunset hike up Griffith Park Trails to LA’s iconic Griffith Park Observatory.
Just beautiful!

Nestlé work with Didier Drogba and YouTube star Louis Cole in Ivory Coast on Kit Kat’s New Global Sustainability Ads.
Nestlé Cocoa Plan fuelling sustainable Kit Kat chocolate the world over – Sponsored Post.
As a digital media professional who’s worked agency-side with an international chocolate brand, I am all too aware of the challenges faced with the volume of chocolate we’re consuming as a planet versus the supply of a sustainably-produced of cocoa beans.
In a landmark moment in the industry’s history, Kit Kat chocolate is the first chocolate brand to announce that from 2016 they will only use sustainably sourced cocoa in their Kit Kat chocolate bars around the world as part of Nestle’s broader Nestlé Cocoa Plan.
To learn more about the Nestlé Cocoa Plan, check out the first of this fascinating video series by Kit Kat featuring Louis Cole and Didier Drogba.
In this first video, Didier and Louis discuss the partnership between The Didier Drogba Foundation and the Nestlé Cocoa Plan.
The YouTube star and the Ivorian professional footballer make a surprise visit to the kids at one of the 40+ schools in farming regions that Nestlé have built in the Ivory Coast through the Nestlé Cocoa Plan, the Côte d’Ivoire of course being the largest producer of cocoa beans in the world.
The broad smiles and elation on these young, shiny faces is instantly visible and Didier “takes a break” with the kids playing football with an innovate football creation – a football that also doubles as a battery and charges kinetically as Didier and the kids kick it around the schoolyard together. The football/battery then has a special light attachment that can be used at night when the kids get home from school as a light source while they study their homework.
As the series continues, viewers can learn about the other areas of the Nestlé Cocoa Plan, which is designed to improve the lives of cocoa farmers and the quality of their products, including the prevention of child labour, education and new tools for farmers and support for women looking to generate income for their families.
Wonderful to see big business making an effort to create inspired and innovative marketing projects that not only benefit their brand, but the global community at large!

Snapchat 2.0 – Social platform updates strengthen position as preferred communication tool for the millennial market.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Just a few days ago Snapchat announced & rolled out updates to the platform, which further strengthens its position as the preferred digital communication tool for the millennial market.
In this current age where digital platforms are evolving so swiftly, the youth market are adopting Instagram and Snapchat as their preferred methods of broadcasting content and interacting with fans, friends and family.
In the latest improvements to the Snapchat platform, you can now starting talking or video chatting instantly live once one of your friends is on Chat at the same time.
With Snapchat 2.0, they have also introduced Stickers and Auto-Advance Stories, so that when you finish a Story, the next one begins automatically — you simply swipe to skip ahead, or pull down to exit as you need.
But don’t take my word for it… open up Snapchat and have a play today!
AND you can follow my trip to the US Masters golf tournament this week at Augusta (Georgia) in California and throughout the USA over the next 2 months on Snapchat using the @-handle hotndelicious. Follow me!

Unibet evolve digital content offering to reach consumers.
Challenging the status quo and evolving with the market – Sponsored Post.
Working in the digital space I’m always on the look-out for content or elements of digital and video content that inspire me in my own projects and that of the clients I’m working with.
One of my eternal frustrations as a digital media specialist is how slow brands are to adopt an audience-centric approach to content and technological trends to meet their business and brand objectives.
For example, as any digitial professional worth his weight in gold will tell you, video content is the way forward to 2016 and beyond. Think about it. Over recent years Facebook have ramped up their platform advertising and prioritized video content in the Facebook algorithm* as a clear assault and attempt to tap into YouTube/Google’s valuable media dollars.
Twitter has now added video to their ad product offering, the invention of Snapchat, Periscope, Meerkat, Vine… it’s all video-focused.
And that’s why you see betting agencies like Unibet and others looking to capitalize on video as an advertising format designed to reach and engage their target audience – play where their consumers are most likely be served content and in a tone they’re like to consume it. Yes, it seems to me that betting agencies are also amongst the most forward-thinking in content design in that they appreciate that in markets like Australia, that one of the best ways to engage with audience members is to play to the Australian sense of humour.
Whether you gamble or not, if you work in the digital space or you have a brand that does, then take note. Video has been (for well over a year now) and the foreseeable future, the way forward. It doesn’t have to cost the earth with some business specializing in digital videos and digital media professionals like myself are striving to make it part of client’s monthly content calendar in order to reach the masses. Not using video content as part of your digital marketing strategy these days is quite simply a gamble! 😉
Who are you using to create your video content in 2016?
