Ever wondered what it’s like to be the black sheep? Or have you always known and owned who you are, strived to find your people and pursued your passions ferociously from an early age?

Kerri Glasscock is an absolute baller!! Growing up as a kid in a small country town NSW, Kerri craved a career in performance arts and moved to Newtown as a teenager, Sydney’s hub of arts, music and culture, so that she could attend the Newtown High School of the Performing Arts amongst her peers. And she flourished!

Flash forward to 2019 and Kerri Glasscock has been the festival director and CEO of the Sydney Fringe Festival for 8 years, has run artist-run Venue 505 in Surry Hills since 2004, a director of City Recital Hall and is the co-chair of the City of Sydney’s new Nightlife and Creative Sector Advisory Panel – a panel that was set up in 2018 to provide advice about supporting a thriving, diverse and safe nightlife in Sydney. Keep Sydney Open!

Kerri and I enjoy vast ranging chats on the Hot & Delicious: Rocks The Planet! podcast this week, from the growth of Sydney Fringe Festival and its 10 year anniversary in 2019 (September 1st – 30th), female entrepreneurship and the business of the arts, Kerri’s real life creative, philosophical and business inspirations, a Bondi Beach x Newtown super suburb and much, much more.

Welcome to a very special episode of Hot & Delicious: Rocks The Planet! with special guest Benny Wallington, founder of 101 Tokens, a new community of people taking back control over their alcohol consumption. Creating new drinking habits and a better all-round lifestyle.

Facts:

  • 5 million Australians drinking three times or more a week with 37% drinking to get drunk.
  • Benny and 101 Tokens have empowered over 11,000 people in 76 countries to change their habits.

On today’s show, Benny shares his personal journey as an Aussie partying hard in London that inspired him to start a personal mission that evolved into the creation of global 101 Tokens community, the 101 Tokens accountability app – (10K Downloads in the 1st month!), the Smart Drinking Bootcamp, techniques that you can use to evolve your drinking habits from Drink, Drunk. Regret, Suppress to Drink, Respect, Reflect, Success, our consumption as a whole (drugs, alcohol, fashion industry) and how to live a life of intention. Fascinating chats!

PLUS I talk about why this month, I have decided to go alcohol-free* for a month of what I’m calling BOOZE-FREE MAY-BE*.

This is a show about how to retrain your booze brain. So if you’re Aussie (or from another global drinking culture) and you’d love to consider your current relationship with alcohol, whether you think that you might be drinking too much or are keen for a few ideas on how you can drink smarter to impact on your Health & Wellness, Finances and Productivity, then this is the podcast for you!

Let’s get into the show!

* Disclaimer: I am totally giving myself 2-3 tokens (max) as a leave pass for a few drinks, hence the Booze-Free May-Be*. It’s not a nanny state, dammit! 😁✨

Boom! Bondi Bandits represent. Social enterprise at its best. Tuck into this Bondi Beach podcast with 2 of my favourite Bondi Beach residents and co-founders of Bondi Bandits, Amy Lynch and Annie Pryor, who are tackling global problems by launching their brand at a local level.

Bondi Bandits is a social enterprise created to provide solutions to the world’s plastic pollution. Amy and Annie have developed eco, recyclable and sustainable surfing apparel for the children’s surf industry, using discarded and recycled fishing nets.

Not only are they a startup business striving to make a positive environmental impact…. Bondi Bandits are champions and advocates for young women around the world, supporting Free to Shine, a charity fighting to put Cambodian girls in schools and out of brothels. With every swim bag, trucker hat or piece of kids swimwear that you purchase – you’re supporting them too. And they’re set to scale!

So many laughs and such a pleasure to hang out with and talk to. Get on board! Download the Bondi Bandits podcast and learn more on how Bondi Bandits are changing the world!

Ever had a vision and then brought your dreams into reality?

Christopher Poe AKA Poe is the CEO and co-founder of Habu Health, a Portland (Oregon, USA) based research group committed to building consumer confidence through scientific rigour.

Led by 12 years of research into the neurobiology of pain, and the pain-relieving properties of opioids and cannabis by leading industry pharmacologist and neural scientist, Dr Adie Poe (Poe’s co-founder and wife), Habu Health is a startup created to work with legislators and partners to build digital products that will fuel an intelligent database which integrates high-fidelity plant and human data.

We cover the legalities of recreational use and need for medicinal marijuana globally, the $2M dollars that Dr Adie Poe has already received in US government federal funding, the meaning behind the name of the business (Japanese for “herb”), what motivated Poe and Dr Adie Poe to take the leap of faith to pursue this dream and the launch of the Habu Health App in just 2 weeks!

Fascinating and educating insights into this data-fuelled startup and I have no doubt that you’ll enjoy this entrepreneur podcast as much as I do!

‘Cause legalising cannabis can change the lives and how we manage chronic pain in our global community. This shit is SO much more than Puff Puff Pass!

Fascinating episode of Hot & Delicious: Rocks The Planet! this week as Tim Lo Surdo joins us to talk about social justice, “anti-racism” and what inspired him to found Australian social enterprise, Democracy in Colour. 🎙✨👊

At the age of 23, Tim has lead by example in being a thought leader for change as the former Head of Campaigns at Oaktree Foundation, an adviser to two Senators, run national campaigns for a digital campaigning organisation in India, co-founded an international spoken word poetry platform, led communications for UN Youth Australia and organised young people in Queensland for the AYCC.

And now he’s created, Democracy in Colour, Australia’s first national racial justice advocacy organisation led by people of colour, who run campaigns to tackle structural racism; do rapid response work to hold political, cultural and corporate leaders to account on the things they say and do on race; and build platforms to increase the political voice of people of colour.

Every single week on Hot & Delicious: Rocks The Planet! we interview inspiring individuals and entrepreneurs across a range of industries about what makes them tick and drives their hunger for success.
