RIVAH represent! Yas, girl! Aussie pop artist & global jetsetter, Rivah, joins us this week on the Hot & Delicious Rocks The Planet! weekly entrepreneurship podcast.
I met this little lion and massive ray of sunshine 6 years ago at SXSW Music in Austin, Texas, and we’ve been friends ever since.
We soak up RIVAH’s travels since our last podcast together 4 years ago, exploring her journey from Brisbane to Auckland to Melbourne, New York City, Los Angeles and all the way back again.
Living all over Brooklyn, a place that now feels like her “first home”, RIVAH is all set to jet back to the USA in a matter of weeks once her O1 Alien of Extraordinary Ability visa is processed and she shares the joy and musical evolution of her self-titled debut EP, snapping up a record deal with Inertia Music, her pinch me moments, the importance of authenticity, openness and honesty, philosophy, ambition and so much more.
So much positive energy, RIVAH lights up the room wherever she goes and damn, you need to hear her sing! Let’s get into the show!

New Music Podcast: BATTS ‘The Grand Tour’ NASA debut album launch.
Excited to welcome back my friend and Melbourne singer-songwriter BATTS on the Hot & Delicious: Rocks The Planet! weekly entrepreneurship podcast for the 4th time, as she prepares to hit the road for her east coast of Australia for the launch of her much anticipated and highly-imaginative debut concept album called ‘The Grand Tour’.
NASA’s launch of the twin Voyager 1 and 2 spacecrafts in 1977, which inspired The Grand Tour album, sent a shock of radio and plasma wave signals back in 2012 from Voyager 1 as it crossed into Interstellar Space and on today’s show we chat about what inspired BATTS to reach out to NASA in the creation of this beautiful album.
Voyager 1 and 2 are currently exploring where nothing from Earth has flown before and are each are much farther away from Earth and the sun than Pluto. Like life imitating art, we dive in what keeps driving BATTS into the unknown for her upcoming tours of Australia and the UK, as a solo indie artist, musician and businesswoman.
Super fun chats and what a rad lady! Let’s get into it!

Kerri Glasscock is an absolute baller!! Growing up as a kid in a small country town NSW, Kerri craved a career in performance arts and moved to Newtown as a teenager, Sydney’s hub of arts, music and culture, so that she could attend the Newtown High School of the Performing Arts amongst her peers. And she flourished!
Flash forward to 2019 and Kerri Glasscock has been the festival director and CEO of the Sydney Fringe Festival for 8 years, has run artist-run Venue 505 in Surry Hills since 2004, a director of City Recital Hall and is the co-chair of the City of Sydney’s new Nightlife and Creative Sector Advisory Panel – a panel that was set up in 2018 to provide advice about supporting a thriving, diverse and safe nightlife in Sydney. Keep Sydney Open!

Interview #7 – Jimmy James Eaton – stand-up comedian
Heya! Welcome back to the weekly Hot & Delicious:Rocks The Planet podcast where we interview inspiring individuals from around the world in music, film/tv, fashion, comedy and lots lots more.
Today we catch-up with Australian stand-up comedian and improvisor, Jimmy James Eaton.
Jimmy & I talk about growing up in Western Australia, the weirdness of watching porn with your mates, burlesque versus the strippers(I still don’t get the point of strippers), being inspired by Eddie Izzard, whether all flight attendants are gay and the selfless, amazing work Jimmy does as a superhero for charity outside of his comedy career… blows my mind.

Interview #5 – Matt Walters – Australian independent singer-songwriter.
Man, I fuckin’ love this chat. Today we’ve got a special treat.. we’re sitting down with Aussie independent musician Matt Walters who’s jams have been seen & heard on YouTube by millions around the world
Matt and I grew up on the same street in Melbourne, Australia and didn’t really know each other that well although our families knew each other. Then some 20+ years later I’m seated next to Matt a concert and we get chatting not knowing who the other was before it all dawned on us. And then I bump into him again two weeks later at iconic Melbourne music venue, Cherry Bar.. I don’t believe in fate, but I do believe in seizing opportunities and so I invited Matt along for this podcast.
Man, when the conversation flows, it flows.. so without further ado… sit back relax and enjoy our interview with independent Australian singer-songwriter Matt Walters.

Zac Abroms (Viceroyalty) – Travel the world & work in the music industry

Interview #5 – Zac Abroms (Viceroyalty, S.T.E.P.) – Music Industry
Good morning! Zac Abroms is a buddy of mine that I met a few years back when my business was running social media for Pyramid Rock Festival – an Australian music festival on Phillip Island just an hour or so out of Melbourne.
Beautiful little spot and magic memories of Tame Impala bringing in the New Year, chatting backstage with the humble and lovely Xavier Rudd and getting to know a bunch of amazing people including the boys from Kingswood, Zac Abroms, Ash Sambrooks of Higher Plains and Zac’s sister, Charlotte, of Large Noises. Zac and Ash’s respective businesses were looking after all the festival’s PR & Publicity and that festivals remains one of my happiest and proudest personal achievements as I basically got paid to hang out at a music festival, meet a shitload of cool people and share those memories with the world… or at least the work of Pyramid Rock fans & music-lovers.
Zac runs a music business called Viceroyalty providing online music publicity for a bunch of amazing Australian and international artists including Kimbra, Jessie Ware, Regina Spektor, Active Child, Bertie Blackman and many many more. He also has a music management business managing a few Aussie acts that I love including Manor, Danvers and the beautiful Kate Martin.
This year Zac and Ash Sambrooks also set-up The Society of Tastemakers and Elegant People (yes, it’s very tongue-in-cheek :D) also known as STEP which is a series of music industry events with live panel discussions and interesting live musical performances designed to connect people – match-matching video directors and photographers to bands and artists to mixers and producers.. mixing promoters with record labels and artists, but the beauty of it all is that absolutely anyone can come down and when I attended their first event a few months back, the bar was rammed with everyone from grassroots artists to seasoned music industry professionals and even newbies to the scene who don’t care what they do but just really want to work in music. It was awesome!
So as most of you know by now and to our 1st time listeners, welcome, this podcast is designed to tap into the lives and experiences of people who inspire me, help them tell their story and hopefully inspire a few of you along the way to chase what it is you love in life… ‘cause I tell you there is no better felling!
Enjoy!

Calling All Cars. I’m a believer in following your dreams… Photographic tales of an ex-Emirates flight attendant

I’m a believer in following your dreams… nay, it’s not a belief, it’s a way of life, a burning passion from which those of us with the creativity and drive inside can not escape, explain or hide. Everything I’ve done until this point in my life has been the result of an overwhelming desire to live and be what every single one of us wants to be… happy.
For me it’s finding the simple pleasures in life, living for the moment and planning for the future. If you don’t love what you do 100%, then you shouldn’t be doing it. Every job has it’s challenges, but it’s all about the positives outweighing the negatives and if they’re not then it’s time to move on buddy.
Every cool job I’ve had – Emirates Airline cabin crew, running music festivals and events around Australia, music supervisor on a snowboard show on TV, shooting music festival photography and even guiding social media for some of the world’s biggest brands – has eventuated by me wanting to try something new and putting my balls on the line to ask if I can have a go.
I need to lay this story out in full over the coming weeks/months/years, but this photo of Calling All Cars is the result of series of events that started with checking out Russell Crowe‘s Twitter and lead me on the journey through all those jobs to where I am now. I shit you not.
This particular moment in time I was shooting a music festival for the 1st time and it just so happened to be for Australia’s top radio station triple j. I was so pumped for the opportunity and shot many amazing bands that weekend including Scissor Sisters, Gotye, Grandmaster Flash and many more, but Calling All Cars were a stand-out live performer.
An unstoppable, explosive force field of energy from word go, I clearly remember the seconds leading up to this Calling All Cars photo and the instinct lead me to position myself for what I could sense was going to be an amazing shot… and then it happened… Wow! I still get chills thinking about it!
My 1st time shooting a music festival, all the result of not being afraid to ask. Not everyone you ask for an opportunity is going to say yes, but man when they do… When was the last time you did something for the first time?

Mark Wilkinson – one of the most captivating musicians of our time #ListenHere
Happy Saturday!
Kickin’ at home after a hectic week of early morning calls to Toronto, Chicago and New York. Loving the couch and trackies time and now I’m at my desk with this beautiful Docklands view working on the soon to be launched Hot & Delicious podcast whilst listening to Mark Wilkinson, one of my favourite indie Australian artists of the past few years.

Pocket rocket alert! Bec Laughton taking on the world!

Pocket rocket alert! Pumped!
Off to see Bec Laughton tonight at The Toff In Town. I first met Bec back in Austin (TX) last year at South By South West when I was there shooting pics for the Sounds Australia and The Aussie BBQ. Bumped into Bec quite a number of times at SXSW and what I noticed about her that week is a magic little smile that sets the room alight wherever she goes, amazing stage presence, energy and damn.. can that girl sing!
After galavanting the globe yet again, Bec Laughton has dropped her latest bit of magic, the new M & R EP, simultaneously releasing the title track and video of the same name, complete with national Australian tour. Can’t wait to hear these jams live tonight!
So much soul and so fuckin’ sexy!
