Are you happy in your chosen career? Do you set yourself little checkpoints along the way where you re-assess where you’re at? Do you actually enjoy what you’re doing?
On a cold winter’s morning in Collingwood (Melbourne), I meet Ashleigh Hills, Tram Sessions GM, 123 Agency project manager and Woodlock acoustic/folk trio’s band manager for the first time. Originally from Dunedin, New Zealand, Ash arrived in Melbourne 7 years ago with no real concrete career plan and then stumbled across the Tram Sessions, a not-for-profit project that sees some of Australia’s most talented musicians perform live guerrilla concerts on Melbourne’s most popular method of transport, which is filmed and shared out to the masses.
Withwell over 3m views on YouTube, Tram Sessions boast a wealth of premiere established and emerging talent of the likes of Vance Joy, Gotye & The Basics, Aussie icon Paul Kelly, Alpine, Kingswood, Bonjah & many more. If you’re a person who craves discovering the wealth of new talent in the Australian music scene, then this YouTube channel is tailor-made for you!
Today’s chat about Tram Sessions, Woodlock, Ash’s journey of professional development through a range of 123 Agency music industry roles and Porch Sessions, felt hanging out with an old friend and a what wicked way to start the weekend early. It’s was so energizing to spend an hour or so with a like-minded soul who has built a lifestyle and career for herself pursing her passions and I thoroughly enjoy surrounding myself with people like this, because ultimately we only have one life and it’s a short one, so why shouldn’t you spend your working hours doing something you love?
After all, someone out there has to be successful, why shouldn’t it be you?

Kickin’ it on a Saturday afternoon at mine with Dockland views, spring sunshine & chillin’ on my mind.
And then there’s this… was chattin’ with Regs from Bonjah yesterday and he sent me through this new jam that was written, recorded & produced by him and Moz in a tiny cabin on the South Coast of Australia recently in the space of an hour.

Fuckin’ love the boys from Bonjah. 4 dudes from New Zealand who decided to form a band, booked a one-way ticket to Australia and never looked back!
Today’s podcast chat is with Regan Lethbridge – Bonjah’s lead guitarist, booking agent at 123 Agency and band manager at Lemon Tree Music.
Eddie Vedder impressions, finding, losing and then re-capturing true love, busking on the streets of Melbourne to being one of Australia’s premier rock bands of the independent scene. Loved catching up with Regs and here’s just one little gem that I left the podcast with that’s applicable to all you aspiring musicians out there.
“At the end of the day, all the bullshit aside… it comes down to good songs and if you got a good song there, and you’ve got a good team and you got a little bit of luck you’re in with a sniff.”

I first met Tom Richardson at one of Melbourne’s favourite little indie bars, Section 8, where he was performing solo with Melbourne-based Kiwis, Bonjah.
Immediately fell in love his beautiful sound and shortly after Tom joined the bill for Hot & Delicious Group‘s inaugural event at iconic Melbourne venue, The Esplanade Hotel’s Gershwin Room, to help raise awareness for Oxfam Australia‘s involvement with Close the Gap.
After spending 2012 touring 14 different countries, Tom Richardson prepares once again to take his infectious personality and contagious melodies across the globe. Single-handedly entertaining audiences at major Canadian festivals, small bars in Europe and highland village tribes in Fiji, Tom heads into 2013 with new solo show, a large swag of songs and a guitar case full of stories.
Tom’s latest release “Song for Jens” is two years in the making & inspired by a German lady who contacted Tom who lost her son when he was just 21 years old. She asked if Tom could write a song to celebrate the life of her son and this beautiful little track is the result. Proud to call this guy our friend.
