Innovative Aussie indie singer/songwriter Eliza Hull’s has a brand new clip & a bucket-load of skills!
The official music video dropped this week for Eliza Hull‘s ‘Echoes’ and as I relax in the night-time sunshine of this beautiful song, I lose myself in the music for 10 seconds and subconsciously my mind tells me I’m listening to Florence Welch (Florence + The Machine).. But no I’m listening to Eliza and she truly is an amazing talent..
Produced by Hayden Calnin in his bunker studio over summer on the Peninsula, ‘Echoes’ is lifted from Eliza Hull’s 2nd EP due out in late 2013. And if you’d not previously come across Eliza Hull’s work, there’s loads more on the way! The Melbourne-based musician is also the co-founder/producer of Large Noises, who have been doing some fantastic music video TV work with a whole swag of Aussie artists incl. Alpine, Big Scary, Gossling, Vance Joy and more.
Echoes. Perfect for chilling on the couch on a cold winter’s eve with a large glass of shiraz.. Love…

Alt J launch Aussie entrepreneurs’ global SOUNDHALO technology that’s set to change the world of live music!
Soundhalo’s exclusive, amazing first footage has to be seen to be believed.
Alt J live from London’s Brixton Academy:
2 music-loving Aussie entrepreneurs with big dreams & balls of steel are taking on the world… live music as we know it, has changed forever!
Overnight in London, British rock quartet Alt J launched the beta version of Soundhalo at a live concert at the UK’s world-renown O2 Brixton Academy. Soundhalo’s ground-breaking technology allows music-lovers to “download and share artist-endorsed live gigs in an instant” with “mind blowing quality anytime, anywhere.”
The Soundhalo technical production team capture high-quality live audio and video content of the world’s largest international acts, then deliver it to your smartphone SOUNDHALO App in an instant… as.. it.. happens…
No more annoying phones in your face at festivals & gigs.. drunk, high or sober.. soundhalo captures the moment.. your moment.. and makes it available for immediate download in both audio and video format, then can be synced across all your devices.
Soundhalo is a wicked concept born of an idea by Baz Palmer’s (Hunters & Collectors) 22-year-old son, Declan, who imagined “capturing in real time, a band’s live performance” in “that intense, insane magical moment that only live music can muster”. When Baz met Soundhalo Co-Founder & CEO Liza Boston through a mutual friend over a boozy music biz lunch, they instantly built a rapport with a shared passion for music/technology and Baz knew he’d found the person to work with to bring a rock-star’s dream into reality. After untold hours putting teams together, countless meetings & planning sessions, traveling the globe collecting frequent flyer miles and testing, testing, testing… it’s here..
When asked for his thoughts, Gus Unger-Hamilton from Alt-J said: “I think the future of music and technology as an artist, and looking at how artists and fans interact, is really exciting. Artistic output no longer has to be be dictated by the things it used to be. It used to be how much music can you fit on a vinyl record? And how long is a video cassette? Now that no longer has to be the case.”
So all you Android users get on it! You can be the first people on the planet to use this game-changing technology! Go to soundhalo.com to download the app. iPhone won’t be far behind with an iOS version due in the coming months.
And in the wise words of my mate Liza…. Rock on! Aroooooooooooooooo! 😀

Hot on the heels of a foray into solo territory, Caity Fowler (formerly of Playwrite) has announced her inspirational debut EP – ‘Whitelight Blackdog’.
I first met Caity Fowler a short while back at Golden Plains Music Festival and was immediately struck by her warmth, giving nature and positive energy, so it was a surprise for me to discover that like many young Australians, Caity has battled on and off with depression since she was a teenager. Having been affected by depression myself when I was younger and in more recent years by the struggles of family members, this is a topic that is close to mine own heart.
What I love about Caity is that this Melbourne-based singer/songwriter is now using her positive energies to shine a light on dark times. I was blown away 2 weeks ago by her openness onstage at The Evelyn Hotel when discussing the inspiration for her latest batch of music. ‘Whitelight Blackdog’ is a beacon of hope designed to start the conversation around a subject that has for too long been considered taboo, so that all of us affected may realize that we’re not alone.
“The secrecy and taboo that surrounds mental illness even in this day and age create shame and embarrassment. I may never learn to be proud of my suffering but I am proud of my resilience.”
– Caity Fowler

I’m proud of you, Caity. Love you! ❤
Every now & then you hear a sweet summer jam that ignites candy in your heels & a song in your heart.. this is one of those jams..
I stumbled across Sue-Anne Stewart’s ‘Love Gets Sweeter’ in March at The Aussie BBQ – LA on the gem of a CD sampler I picked up from Footstomp Music (Busby Marou, The Medics). Quite swiftly, along with Thelma Plum‘s ‘Around Here’, Ginger & The Ghost‘s ‘Where Wolf’ and more, Sue-Anne’s ‘Love Gets Sweeter’ formed part of the soundtrack and sweet vibe that was to be my Hot & Delicious: SXSW & LA. Roadtrip USA experience.
Her smooth, clear vocals, light guitars and beautiful, melodic keys are rather reminiscent of Sheryl Crow and the track is the first single just released off Sue-Anne’s upcoming album produced by Anthony Lycenko (Pete Murray, Busby Marou). Sue-Anne Stewart has shared the stage with the likes of Ash Grunwald, Lanie Lane and Mat McHugh (The Beautiful Girls), toured Australia, Europe and Canada (incl. Calgary Stampede, Woodford Folk Festival) and launches ‘Love Gets Sweeter’ next Friday May 10th at the Footstomp Music showcase Our Band Could Be Your Life #2 – The Roots Edition at The Tempo Hotel in Brisbane’s iconic Fortitude Valley.
This ‘little ray of sunshine’ makes me feel like I’m hittin’ the surf in Byron with a light breeze, blue skies and the summer sun on my back.. now if only I knew how to surf.. Charlie don’t surf
